What to write in a mid-year thank you card
The hardest part of sending a thank you isn't the card - it's the blank inside. Below are 25 short messages you can use as-is or tweak. First, three rules that make any of them land.
1. Say thank you for something specific. "Thanks for your trust this year" beats "thanks for your business."
2. Ask for nothing. No upsell, no "by the way." A no-ask card is the one that's believed.
3. Keep it short. Three lines is plenty. The gesture is the message.
For clients - warm and short
1. "A quick note to say thank you. Working with you this year has been a genuine pleasure - here's to the rest of it."
2. "No reason except this one: we're grateful to have you as a client. Thank you."
3. "Halfway through the year felt like the right moment to say it properly - thank you for your trust."
4. "We don't say it often enough: thank you for choosing us. It means a great deal."
For clients - a little more formal
5. "On behalf of everyone at [Company], thank you for your continued confidence in us. We don't take it for granted."
6. "As we reach the midpoint of the year, we wanted to pause and thank you for your partnership. We're proud to work with you."
7. "Thank you for the trust you've placed in us this year. We look forward to continuing to earn it."
For clients - specific and personal
8. "Thank you for [project / the referral / sticking with us through the move]. It genuinely made our year better."
9. "It's been a pleasure working alongside [name / your team] these past months. Thank you - here's to what's next."
10. "Just a quick note to say thank you for sticking with us. We love working with you."
For staff - team-wide
11. "Halfway through the year, and we wouldn't be here without this team. Thank you for being such an important part of it."
12. "No occasion. Just a genuine thank you for the hard work you put in and the impact you have on the team."
13. "You make this place what it is. Thank you for everything so far this year."
14. "Six months in and you've made all the difference. We see it, and we're grateful."
For staff - individual
15. "Thank you, [name]. We see the effort you put in every day, and we really appreciate it."
16. "A note to say what doesn't get said enough: we're lucky to have you. Thank you."
17. "[Name], thank you for [the project / stepping up / always showing up]. It mattered."
For staff - milestones & moments
18. "One year in - thank you for choosing to build your career here. We're glad you did."
19. "Now that you're fully settled in, thank you for making your first few months here really count."

Short and universal (clients or staff)
21. "Thank you for everything so far this year."
22. "No special occasion - just a note to say thank you for being part of our year so far."
23. "Sending a quick note simply to say thank you. We appreciate you."
24. "We appreciate you. We thought you should hear it."
25. "Here's to the second half. Thank you for the first."
